Pilot Study Nurse Comments

E.A., RN – "This program is very thorough and informative. It can be of relevance and use for nurses in all aspects and areas of practice. The only negative is the small sizes of the print."

C.B., RN – "I like that it added up-to-date material after the book was published in the CEU course. I learned a lot in this study. Even though I take care of diabetics daily, I do not manage the pumps often. The book itself has really small print. Although I could read it myself, someone with poor vision might struggle. The one thing that I do appreciate is that the book is in order of the questions. While it is important to learn, I find it a waste of time to flip pages."

K.B., RN – "Very thorough and complete for multiple spectrums of diabetes management. Text provides a good, complete review of efficacious pharmaceuticals. This course is needful for any nurses that cares for any diabetic patient—to go beyond casual interaction to effective intervention. This was very good as many standards of care seem to be outdated and this was very helpful to catch up on the latest."

C.C., RN – "I thoroughly enjoyed the study. I have gained information from the study. After 35 years in critical care, I was still challenged with new information. Excellent study which has led to increased knowledge for this student. Thank you."

A.C-T., RN – "This is a great resource for all nurses who take care of diabetes patients. The book is very well-written and informative. The CE questions will reinforce nurses' newly learned knowledge."

J.T.E., RN – "Highly recommend for nurses with or without background or experience with diabetic patients. I appreciated the practice case studies. A lot to learn!"

D.G., RN – "I found the case studies in chapter 13 extremely helpful, as well as chapter 22. I have been a nurse for nearly 49 years and have worked in hospice the past 8. My diabetic knowledge is dated and this course brought me up-to-date particularly in continuous glucose monitoring as I have moved into home health. The course challenged me to think critically."

W.M., RN – "Very small type in book...Other than the small print, I felt it covers the material well, easy to follow, had occasionally in-depth information but very informative. Great job on new meds and uses."

C.M., RN – "I found the tables, figures, and references to be extremely valuable! This is an excellent course! I opened my eyes to the complexity of diabetes care, and especially the need for quality patient education. After many years in nursing, I realize just how much more there is to learn—for myself and my patients. Never stop learning—it saves lives!"

K.O., RN – "Very educational study. Great information on etiology and today’s treatment standards. For chapters 23 and 24, the average RN would not be familiar with this content. I would highly recommend the study. A text in larger print would be a nice offering. I had to use my cheater classes and a magnifying glass to easily read the book."

Y.R., RN – "The material overall is very insightful and the authors did a great job balancing tedious details with what was necessary to create understanding."

W.W., RN – "This course was not too technical. “Identifying and Overcoming Barriers to Achieving Glucose Control” was a very good chapter. Good communication strategies are so important, especially in regards to supporting adherence. Good use of tables and figures to support subject matter discussed. Good use of key points at the end of each chapter. I like the use of the question and answer format this textbook used. Very good coverage of the significant issues with diabetes and its management and care (both physical and relational). Great resource (and study) for every nurse because every nurse will encounter a diabetic (and/or be one). To be better informed means better patient care outcomes. I felt it was a thorough text and covered the subject extremely well."

D.W., RN - "I would recommend this to any healthcare person to either refresh their knowledge, solidify information from school, or to make sure their practice has evolved over time. Although I am familiar with diabetes, I still learned several key points in the text and the quiz helped to highlight important information. My suggestion would be to let the reader know the text does contain small print as at times it proved to be challenging to read—but that’s from me, old eyes with 36 years as a nurse."
