“I have been a Dialysis RN for over 35 years and a CNN for 25. I found this course very challenging and thought-provoking. I can’t remember the last time that I took a renal course where I learned something new or had to concentrate on the content. I’m sure I’ll be using the book as a reference tool.”
“A wonderful resource. Impossible for me to process all technical information. Book would be very useful in a clinical setting that sees renal patients. If looking up just one disease or condition, all information presented clearly and concisely.”
“I would not encourage nurses to take this course unless their specialty is dialysis, renal, etc.”
“The print is very small.”
“The textbook is excellent. Very helpful to have brief chapters as there is copious information.”
“Definitely thorough with good new questions with asterisks. Appreciated that pointer!”
“Overall, I have enjoyed this course...Like many “secrets” or “pearls of wisdom” texts there are a lot of useful tips and explanations that translate into daily practice. However, since it is a renal text, there are a lot of pages of complex pathways and chemical formulas to read through. I thought the test preparer did a great job, though, of minimizing the focus on technical jargon and formulas and concentrating on providing a well-rounded synopsis of the material. I know I found several tips and explanations that I will use in my practice. I would recommend this course to my coworkers.”
“Very pleased with the course. Learned a lot. Felt it was an advanced course. A lot of time and effort was put into this.”
“Nephrology Secrets is awesome!! It is so full of information. Very timely and relevant. Totally impressed with the research.”
"I like the question/answer format. I’ve enjoyed the other “Secrets” textbooks Anderson CE has used/offered. The key points at the end of the chapter is a good little review."
"Very thorough overview of the renal system. Some chapters reintroduce as well as build on previous material read/studied. Seems this second half was quicker reading."
The authors of this new edition write “All aspects of nephrology have evolved, and some topics have been completely revolutionized.” While the text was written by physicians for physicians, the quiz is for renal nurses. Almost half of all quiz questions address information new to this edition. (It's rare for a text to change that much from one edition to the next.) Please note that the quiz is long (Section A has 233 questions, Section B 218) and the type in the book is small, as the pilot study nurse pointed out below.
