“The subject of this continuing education course will take you into a topic, a language, and indeed a world, seemingly far removed from the practice settings in which many of us work. That presumption is wrong. The world of human trafficking, also known as modern-day slavery, reaches to our doorstep, whether that door is located in a gritty urban area of the Northeast or the rural Midwest. Human trafficking is not just a human rights issue and a criminal justice issue, it is a public health and nursing issue.”
So begins our new course on human trafficking. Designed to satisfy the 2-hour Florida Board of Nursing and the one-time Michigan Board of Nursing requirements, this course is important for everyone. After completing this course, you will be better prepared to recognize the signs of human trafficking, ask the right questions, and provide a potential trafficking victim with local and federal resources that will assist him or her to find safety.
