This program is pre-approved by the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC) to provide continuing education credit to Certified Case Managers (CCMs).
This course is designed to meet the Florida Board of Nursing requirement to earn two contact hours in prevention of medical errors each renewal cycle.

This course is intended to give nurses the knowledge necessary to efficiently collect and label laboratory specimens. It covers basic information about the problems enountered with improperly collected specimens and offers solutions to correct them. It includes discussion of appropriate techniques for collection of blood and other types of specimens to be analyzed by the laboratory as well as principles and practices of Point of Care testing. The course also incorporates a summary of the Joint Commission's material regarding Sentinel Events and an explanation of Root Cause Analysis.
